B, L, DDay 4
Our first port of call is Leixoes, one of Portugal's major seaports and is widely associated with the exporting of port wine. Day trips to Porto are a popular activity, but there are also quayside beaches and cafes to enjoy on either side of the Douro River. There will also be the opportunity to pre-book an OPTIONAL excursion to Porto, beautifully situated on the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, it is one of the oldest European centres, and its core was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. It began its life as a quiet fishing village, but today it is Portugal's second-largest city full of culture and amazing food, considered by many to be the most romantic. As well as being renowned for its rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning architecture, Porto is also known for producing the world-famous Port wine, which takes its name from the region.
B, L, DDays 5 & 6
Embrace another two relaxing days at sea to do as much or as little as you like.
B, L, DDay 7
Wake to a memorable arrival in the Azores, a remote Portuguese archipelago where volcanic landscapes, crater lakes and emerald pastures create an unforgettable first impression. Today we explore vibrant Ponta Delgada on São Miguel, the largest island in the chain and a charming gateway to Azorean culture. Stroll past the iconic Portas da Cidade, sample a traditional queijada in a waterfront café and soak up the relaxed island atmosphere before we set sail again in the early evening.
B, L, DDay 8
This morning we arrive in Horta, the captivating capital of Faial, where a colourful marina, subtropical scenery and a rich seafaring heritage await. Wander along the famous harbour murals left by visiting sailors, take in sweeping island views from Monte da Guia and explore charming cobbled streets lined with elegant churches and Atlantic-facing facades. With its laid-back atmosphere and ocean-framed beauty, Horta is a delightful Azorean gem before our mid-evening departure.
B, L, DDay 9
Today we visit Velas on São Jorge, an island celebrated for some of the most dramatic scenery in the Azores. Expect lush volcanic landscapes, peaceful coastal villages and the island's famed fajãs - fertile plains nestled beneath towering cliffs. Take time to savour the tranquillity, admire the striking natural beauty and perhaps sample the renowned Queijo de São Jorge, the island's most famous local speciality, before we depart in the early evening.
B, L, DDay 10
This morning, we arrive in the charming coastal town of Praia da Vitória on Terceira Island, where colourful architecture, cobbled streets and a long maritime history create a wonderfully inviting setting. Discover historic churches such as the striking Igreja do Senhor Santo Cristo das Misericórdias, watch for marine life on an optional whale-watching trip or simply enjoy the flavours of the island, perhaps with a taste of traditional alcatra, Terceira's much-loved slow-cooked beef dish.
B, L, DDays 11 & 12
Enjoy two more leisurely days at sea, giving you plenty of time to unwind, savour the ship's excellent facilities and simply relax as your cruise continues in comfort.
B, L, DDay 13
Our final port of call brings us to vibrant Vigo in Spain's beautiful Galician region, where historic streets, sweeping waterfront views and outstanding cuisine await. Explore the atmospheric Old Town, admire panoramic vistas from Castro Fortress and indulge in the region's celebrated seafood. There is also the opportunity to join an optional excursion to Santiago de Compostela, one of Spain's most iconic pilgrimage destinations, renowned for its magnificent cathedral and timeless sense of history.
