Day 1
We depart and travel to Lincoln all decorated in it's finery for the festive season, with interesting shops full of Christmas goodies. Wander along the picturesque, cobbled streets and labyrinth of little alleyways, taking in the spectacular sights of Lincoln's magnificent historic architecture, including the cathedral, which was once the tallest building in the world. You may like to visit the magnificent Lincoln Castle and its fascinating restored Victorian Prison, used as a filming location for TV series such as Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife. From here we continue to our hotel, nestled in 190 acres of Lincolnshire woodland, where tea, coffee & mince pies are served in the lounge on arrival. After settling into your room there will be time to explore the fabulous facilities before sitting down to dinner this evening.
Christmas Eve
This morning we enjoy a scenic drive through the Lincolnshire Wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty and unspoilt countryside, rolling green hills, picturesque hidden valleys and all kinds of magnificent animals and wildlife, for a visit to the delightful little town of Louth, known as the 'Capital of the Wolds' with charm and character that typifies the county’s market towns. From here we continue for a lunchtime visit to the popular east coast holiday resort of Mablethorpe, where you may like to take a bracing walk along the promenade for a breath of sea-air, tuck into some traditional seaside fish and chips, or simply relax with a coffee while enjoying views of the coastline, before returning to the hotel. After dinner this evening you will be entertained in the hotel lounge by a magician, who's mesmerising illusions will leave you guessing 'just how does he do that?'. For those wishing to attend Midnight Mass details of local church services will be available at reception and tea/coffee and mince pies will be served on return to the hotel.
B, DChristmas Day
Happy Christmas - after a leisurely breakfast, spend the morning relaxing in the comfort of your hotel, before a drinks-reception and a traditional turkey lunch with all the trimmings. In the afternoon we heard they may be a visit from Santa bearing gifts for all, before settling down to simply relax with tea and Christmas cake, play a few board games and catch the King's speech on tv. After a buffet dinner this evening, we have a light-hearted Christmas quiz, to test your knowledge of Christmas and reveal just how much do you really know about this annual celebration!!
B, DBoxing Day
After breakfast we include an excursion which takes us over the awe-inspiring Humber Bridge to the charming market town of Beverley on market day with it's own unique character and which enjoys a special sprinkling of festive fun at this time of year. The beautiful minster with it's magnificent gothic architecture and superb stonework and wood carvings inside is well worth a visit. It's eyes down for fun little game of bingo after dinner back at the hotel this evening.
B, DDay 5
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning before we return home.
