Day 1
After this morning's departure, we head to Ely, England's second-smallest city. With the magnificent cathedral rising into the large skies of Cambridgeshire Fens, you'll find independent shopping and eateries with lots to see before we continue onto Norfolk and our seafront hotel in Great Yarmouth.
Day 2
We begin our day by crossing the county border into Suffolk to picturesque Southwold, a unique seaside resort home to the Adnams brewery, a beach-hut lined promandade and the supposedly haunted Gun Hill. We return this afternoon, travelling via Oulton Broad and Lowestoft to visit the delightful Somerleyton Hall Gardens. Considered one of East Anglia's finest gardens, you can explore twelve acres of gardens used for the filming of 'The Crown', including the Maze, the Walled Garden and the beautiful Greenhouse Tearoom.
Day 3
After breakfast, enjoy a free day to explore Great Yarmouth in your own time. From our seafront hotel directly opposite the town's Britannia Pier and surrounding gardens, this prime location is just a stone's throw from the traditional sights and sounds of the seaside. If you're looking for something more unique, Great Yarmouth is also home to a nightly circus and a giant wheel offering views over the Broads and North Sea.
Day 4
Today, we will travel to Aylsham to board the Bure Valley Steam Railway. This nine-mile nostalgic trip on Norfolk's longest narrow gauge railway steams through rural Norfolk to Wroxham, the bustling 'capital' of the Broads. After some free time, we continue our journey to Horning, where we board the Southern Comfort, a unique luxury double-deck Mississippi paddle boat for a cruise along the Broads. As we glide past the picturesque villages and windmills that dot this wetland, you'll be guided by excellent commentary from the skipper, who will also point out all the wildlife along the way, so remember your binoculars and cameras!
Day 5
After checking out of our hotel, we head for a morning visit to historic Norwich. You may wish to visit the cathedral, explore cobbled Elm Hill, or simply browse the array of shopping opportunities before beginning our journey home early afternoon.
