DAY 1

After pickups this morning, we begin our journey to our overnight hotel.

DAY 2

We travel to our hotel on Vienna’s outskirts. A warming schnapps from our Austrian hosts and an evening meal await our arrival.

DAY 3

CHRISTMAS EVE - After a leisurely start, enjoy a guided walking tour of Austria’s elegant capital, Vienna. Discover the heart of this imperial city before ending at the beautiful St. Stephen’s Cathedral. With free time this afternoon, we recommend visiting the famous Christmas markets. Later, you’ll enjoy a typical Austrian Christmas dinner at our hotel this evening.

DAY 4

CHRISTMAS DAY - Merry Christmas or ‘Frohe Weihnachten’ as the locals say! After exchanging gifts this morning, a traditional turkey lunch will be served at a Viennese restaurant. We return for an afternoon at leisure back at our hotel, where dinner will be provided later this evening.

DAY 5

BOXING DAY - This morning, explore the beautiful Vienna Woods.Highlights include the Abbey at Heiligenkreuz (with entrance included) and the famous Mayerling Hunting Lodge. We continue to the spa town of Baden bei Wien before the next highlight of the day: an audio-guided tour of the majestic Schönbrunn Palace; this royal experience is fit for a king or queen and is home to a Christmas market in front of the palace. The tour then takes you to Klosterneuburg via the High Road, with a scenic stop overlooking Vienna. This beautiful little town is famous for its breathtaking Abbey. This evening, we visit Grinzing, renowned for its wine, to enjoy a tasty dinner in a traditional Heuriger wine tavern, with a glass of wine included.

DAY 6

Enjoy free time in Vienna today. From our central location in Döbling, why not jump on a nearby tram route and head into this glorious city’s centre? With historical sights, glorious parks and museums are all just a short journey away, followed by a farewell dinner at our hotel this evening.

DAY 7

We wave goodbye to Vienna and start our journey to our overnight hotel.

DAY 8

We retrace our footsteps home via ferry and back to the East Midlands.
