Day 2

Today we discover the wild expanses and dramatic scenery of Dartmoor National Park - keep a lookout for its famous wildlife, including the much-loved Dartmoor ponies. Our journey continues to the World Heritage town of Tavistock, birthplace of Sir Francis Drake and the proud home of the original Devon cream tea. Take time to explore the historic Pannier Market at the heart of the town, a bustling centre of trade for over nine-hundred years. We then visit Alder Vineyard, nestled at the foot of Dartmoor, where we enjoy a guided tour and tasting showcasing locally produced wines. On our return, we travel through Princetown, the highest village on Dartmoor, known for its striking, windswept setting and infamous prison. This atmospheric landscape has inspired countless artists and writers, including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who set part of The Hound of the Baskervilles amid the surrounding moorland.

Day 3

As the regional capital and home to a rich maritime heritage, Plymouth is one of Devon's most dynamic and fascinating places to stay. You'll have the opportunity to explore its seafaring history on land, with highlights including the charming Barbican, scenic Plymouth Hoe and the iconic Smeaton's Tower lighthouse. For those wishing to truly embrace Plymouth's coastal setting, a harbour cruise comes highly recommended. From the water, you can enjoy views of Plymouth Hoe, Drake's Island, Mount Edgcumbe and the historic Royal William Yard, as well as one of the largest naval dockyards in Western Europe.

Today, we embark on a leisurely trip to South East Cornwall, where we discover the unique charm of Looe. This picturesque fishing port is renowned for its soft, golden beaches and award-winning restaurants. You'll have free time to explore the town's rich history at the Looe Museum, delve into its railway heritage, or simply take a leisurely stroll around the harbour. Later, we'll travel the short distance to the incredible Eden Project. Home to the largest indoor rainforest in the world, this former clay pit is a botanist's dream; keep your eyes peeled for the exotic fruits growing inside!
