Day 1
Once on board our coach, we travel to our overnight hotel, with comfort stops along the way.
Day 2
This morning, we travel through the picturesque scenery and skirting the Caigngorms to Inverness, the 'Capital of the Highlands'. After some free time to explore this historic city, we'll head to Ullapool to board our ferry to the Isle of Lewis, the largest of the Outer Hebridean Islands. Tonight, you'll be welcomed at the Caladh Hotel, Stornaway for a two-night stay.
Day 3
After breakfast, an experienced local island guide will meet us to tour the magnificent Lewis and Harris, an island of diverse experiences. On our journey, take in the impressive standing stones of Callanish, Scotland's own five-thousand year old Stonehenge, and the imposing Carloway Broch, a fortified tower dating back to the Iron Age. Our final stop includes admission into the Gearrannan Blackhouses Museum; built from stonework and thatch, these historic buildings were inhabited until the 1970s, providing a fascinating insight into the historic lives of the islanders.
B, DDay 4
An early start as we begin our day with a scenic drive down the length of Lewis and Harris. We'll hop on the ferry to the Uists, the collective name of six interconnected islands, each with its own story and character. We spend the day taking you on a scenic coastal drive of the Uists, passing tiny lochs and golden beaches before checking into our overnight hotel on the Isle of Benbecula.
Day 5
We start the day by travelling to Lochmaddy for the ferry over the sea to Skye. The second largest of Scotland's islands is unarguably the most beautiful, with its jagged mountain peaks, deep lochs, and stunning coastline attracting visitors for centuries. On arrival in Uig, we continue the short distance to the village of Portree or "port on the slope" in Gaelic, the 'capital' of the island with its pretty pastel-coloured cottages sheltering snugly around the bay. After some free time in Skye's largest settlement, we continue onto our overnight stay in the village of Broadford, nestled beneath the motherly shape of Ben na Calliach (the hill of the old woman).
B, DDay 6
We start our journey back to the Scottish Mainland by crossing the magnificent Skye Bridge. We can soon admire the views of stunning Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scottish Highland's most famous landmarks; with the castle perched on a tiny island at the junction of three great lochs, there's plenty of chances to take an iconic photo here! From here, we continue for a lunchtime stop in Fort William. Basking on Loch Linnhe's shores and surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery, Fort William has one of the most desirable settings in Scotland. After a chance to explore, we'll head to our final overnight hotel.
Day 7
After a fantastic trip filled with incredible sights, we travel home.
