Day 1
After departures, we travel to York for free time. Whether you want to take in the majesty of the iconic York Minster or discover the city's gruesome past at the York Dungeon, you can't fail to be amazed by York. We later continue to our hotel.
DDay 2
This morning, we travel to the market town of Alnwick. The surrounding area is famous for its unspoilt beauty and is one of the most picturesque areas of countryside in the whole of England. There are numerous Stately Homes in the area, including the fantastic Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and has been used to film Harry Potter & Downton Abbey. This afternoon, we return to our hotel.
B, DDay 3
After a leisurely morning, we travel to Durham this afternoon. Enjoy free time in this 'perfect little city', where you can visit the shop for gourmet treats, find a charming café and watch the world go by.
B, DDay 4
Enjoy a day at leisure today, otherwise why not join us on our optional visit to explore the Northumbrian coast? Our first stop is Berwick-upon-Tweed, England's most northerly town, before travelling to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne (tide dependent). Lying just off the Northumberland Coast, Holy Island is a picturesque, unspoilt village cut off twice daily from the rest of the world by fast-moving tides. We also visit the beautiful coastal town of Bamburgh. Set in the heart of Northumberland, which is most famous for its striking castle and Northumberland's finest sausage, 'The Bamburgh Banger'!
B, DDay 5
We return home today.
