Day 1
After this morning’s departures, we travel to Ilfracombe with comfort stops along the way.
DDay 2
Enjoy the picturesque historic harbour of Ilfracombe as you wish today. Explore the beautiful beaches and coves, fantastic eateries, the award-winning Ilfracombe Aquarium, the fascinating Ilfracombe Museum or take a refreshing walk around the town’s unique Tunnel Beaches before perhaps booking onto a locally departing wildlife cruise? Seals, dolphins, sunfish and porpoises all frequent this part of the North Devon coast.
B, DDay 3
Join us this morning for an excursion to Barnstaple, the thriving market town at the heart of North Devon. Set on the banks of the River Taw, it offers an easy-to-explore centre full of character, with its bustling Pannier Market, scenic riverside walks, and a blend of heritage and boutique shopping. We then continue to Woolacombe Bay, nestled between two dramatic headlands. This popular seaside resort boasts three miles of golden sand, along with lively cafés and shops - ideal for both relaxation and exploration.
B, DDay 4
After breakfast, we enjoy a full-day excursion of Exmoor National Park, beginning with a scenic drive - the perfect introduction to this beautiful landscape. Our first stop is Dunster, one of England’s best-preserved medieval villages, dominated by Dunster Castle, whose origins stretch back around 1,000 years. There’s plenty of history to uncover here, including the remains of a Benedictine priory, as well as charming streets lined with independent shops and tearooms. We then travel through ‘Lorna Doone Country’ before heading to England’s ‘Little Switzerland’ for time in Lynton. Perched some 500 feet above its twin village of Lynmouth, Lynton is linked to the harbour below by the old-world water-powered cliff railway, offering wonderful views across the bay.
B, DDay 5
After checking out of our hotel, we visit Quince Honey Farm, where we discover the fascinating journey of honey from hive to jar, learn how bees create honeycomb, and explore the pollinator-friendly Nectar Gardens. There’s also the chance to sample the delicious produce before we begin our journey home.
B=Breakfast, D=Dinner
