Free time in Sandown

Day 1

After this morning's departure, we travel by ferry across The Solent before arriving at Sandown's Trouville Hotel.

Day 2

Today, we visit the popular seaside resorts of Shanklin and Ventnor, a famous Victorian health resort with its unique microclimate. We continue onto Godshill village, which boasts some of the island's oldest architecture and is a well-known model village. Our final stop today is the Isle of Wight's Donkey Sanctuary, where you can get up close and personal with the animals before enjoying a delicious, included cream tea.

Day 3

Sitting on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight and sheltered in a beautiful bay, Sandown is famed for long stretches of golden sandy beaches, a traditional British seafront, and a pier. During your free day, you can explore as much or as little as you like. If you're looking for something different, why not visit the Animal Sanctuary found in an old fort or the interactive Dinosaur Isle Museum, all just a short walk from your hotel?

Day 4

Step back to a bygone era with a journey onboard the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Settle into the beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages as you pass through the island's unspoilt countryside and ancient woodlands. After arriving at our departure, you'll enjoy a free afternoon in Sandown.

Day 5

Today, we travel to Queen Victoria's Osborne House - a seaside palace where she often visited with her beloved Prince Albert and their nine children. Take an intimate glimpse into Victorian family life and marvel at the magnificence of the Royal Apartments, including the drawing and dining rooms. Don't forget to explore the gardens or visit Queen Victoria's private beach, just a pleasant twenty-minute stroll from the palace. The day also includes a visit to the nearby yachting centre of Cowes, an exciting port town split in half by the River Medina. Today is the final full day of our 6-day departure.
