Day 1
We start our journey north with a stop in the Cumbrian city of Carlisle before arriving at our Perthshire hotel.
Day 2
Travelling over the Firth of Forth via the ultra-modern Queensferry crossing, affording us views of the famous original historic Forth Bridge, we visit Edinburgh. Fondly known as "Auld Reekie" or "Old Smokey", you'll find one of Europe's most unique and memorable cities. Home to narrow, cobbled passageways, various new and old buildings, fascinating museums and attractions galore. During your day, you might want to explore the stately Edinburgh Castle or Holyrood Palace, the city's Vaults, or even the Scotch Whisky Experience; here, you'll get an insight into production while the shop offers almost five hundred varieties of whisky.
Day 3
Beautifully situated on the banks of the River Tay, the 'Fair City' of Perth was formerly Scotland's capital for five centuries. Here, we enjoy a free day to explore this picturesque playground for kings and queens, now a cosmopolitan gem offering a unique shopping experience amidst a historic atmosphere.
B, DDay 4
After breakfast, we head to Stirling, one of Scotland's most significant cities. A vibrant blend of the old and new, it's home to iconic attractions like Stirling Castle and The Church of the Holy Rude, where Scotland's kings and queens were once crowned. This afternoon, we step aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, a floating testament to British royal history. For forty-four years, this vessel served as a floating home for Queen Elizabeth II and a stunning setting for state visits, receptions, honeymoons, and family holidays. Now permanently moored in the historic port of Leith, the yacht has been preserved exactly as it was during its royal service.
Day 5
This morning, we begin our homeward journey with a visit to Jedburgh, on the Scottish borders, known for its association with Mary Queen of Scots.
