Free time in Whitby

Day 1

After today's departures, we travel to historic York, one of the UK's most festive cities, with free time to explore the Christmas Markets, shops or famous sights, guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit. From here, we continue to our hotel in Whitby, with a theme of festive fun running throughout our stay.

Day 2

We enjoy a scenic journey exploring the winter wonderland of the North Yorkshire Moors today. Travelling via Danby and Rosedale Abbey, we visit Pickering with free time to explore. This thriving, vibrant market town is packed with exciting things, with the tea rooms and shops having a glorious vintage flavour and coming alive with festive merriment around Christmas.

Day 3

Enjoy free time in Whitby, a much-loved seaside town! Famous for its literary connections with Bram Stoker and Dracula, Whitby Abbey stands above the harbour and provides fantastic views of the town below. If you're looking for maritime history, you'll find the Captain Cook Memorial Museum in the seventeenth-century harbourside house where he served his apprenticeship. Don't forget to enjoy some fish and chips or track down classic Whitby Jet for a beautiful Christmas present!

Day 4

Today, we enjoy a truly magical visit to Castle Howard for it's Christmas celebrations. Located in an Area of Natural Beauty, this majestic eighteenth-century stately home transforms for the festive season. Open fires, candlelight and live music all evoke what we love about this time of year, with an iconic twenty-five-foot Christmas tree providing a breath-taking highlight in the Great Hall.

Day 5

We begin our homeward journey with a stop in Beverley, a market town famed for its cobbled streets, quaint boutiques decorated for Christmas and the exquisite thirteenth-century Minster. After some free time, we return home.
