Day 2

Today's first visit is to the beautiful Balmoral Castle. Initially purchased by Prince Albert as a gift for Queen Victoria, Balmoral Castle has long been the Royal Family's much-loved Scottish residence. Explore the vast castle grounds, formal gardens, and exhibitions before taking in the extravagant ballroom. We return to our hotel for an afternoon of leisure, where you can relax and enjoy the hotel's riverside location next to Old Packhorse Bridge, the oldest stone bridge in the Highlands.

Day 3

Explore the villages of the spectacular Cairngorms National Park, starting with a leisurely morning in Carrbridge. Our afternoon excursions see us travel to Grantown-on-Spey and Aviemore, surrounded by towering mountains, sparkling lochs, and dense forests. We also include a breathtaking trip on the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, Scotland's only funicular railway and the highest in the UK, reaching the Ptarmigan building over a kilometre above sea level.

Day 4

After breakfast, we board the Jacobite Steam Railway to Mallaig, known as the 'Greatest Railway Journey in the World'. This section of the West Highland Line crosses the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct with panoramic views across Loch Shiel below; the famous Hogwarts Express also took this journey in the Harry Potter films too. Our journey takes us to Mallaig, a remote but busy fishing port home to stunning scenery and lots of fresh fish and chips. We will make the return journey by train later.

Day 5

Filled with stunning memories, we travel home.
