Day 1
We make our way to Wales with a stop in Shrewsbury, one of England's finest medieval market towns.
DDay 2
We enjoy a scenic drive through the hills and valleys to our today's first destination, Welshpool. A picturesque and quintessentially Welsh market town in the Severn Valley, streets are lined with fine Georgian buildings, quaint shops and traditional eateries; you might even catch a glimpse of our next destination, Powis Castle, situated high above Welshpool on the hillside. Our visit to this thirteenth-century castle includes a visit to the world-famous gardens, considered to be one of the finest historic gardens in Wales. Inspired by Italian and French styles, the garden is home to original lead statues, an orangery and rare and tender plants hidden beneath towering trees. Please note: There are some steep steps throughout the castle and grounds.
B, DDay 3
Today, you have the freedom to explore Llandrindod Wells, a famous Victorian spa town, or 'landod' as the locals affectionately know it. Take your time to explore the town's historic splendour and enjoy the leafy walks; it's home to Rock Park, one of the earliest public parks in Wales and the best-known spa in Wales, the listed Rock Spa Pump Room and Pavilion.
B, DDay 4
This morning, we took a scenic drive through the enchanting Wye Valley, through the mountains to the Ceredigion Heritage Coast, and to the Victorian seaside resort of Aberystwyth. The seafront boasts the oldest pier in Wales, built in 1864, and offers one of the best vantage points in the surrounding area. Later, we arranged a journey on one of the little trains of Wales, the Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway. This unforgettable journey travels through Wales' most spectacular scenery on a historic narrow-gauge steam railway.
B, DDay 5
As a highlight of our journey, we visit the world-famous Hay-on-Wye, a haven for book lovers. This afternoon, we begin our journey home, filled with memories of our adventure through the heart of Wales.
