Free time in Paignton

Day 1

We travel to our hotel, where a warm welcome and a fully themed program of festive food and entertainment awaits us - just remember to pack your Christmas jumpers!

Day 2

Enjoy a free day in Paignton, one of the English Riviera's brightest jewels. You might like to venture into neighbouring Torquay, an award-winning resort with events and festivals going on all year round.

Day 3

We first head to Buckfast Abbey to evoke the true meaning of Christmas. Found in a picturesque valley on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and home to a community of Roman Catholic Benedictine Monks, visit the beautiful abbey and learn about Benedictine life from its medieval origins to the present day. From here, we continue to the ancient city of Exeter for the opportunity to browse the chic boutiques, shops and cafes on cobbled Gandy Street and soak up the atmosphere of the Christmas Market on The Green around the Gothic cathedral.

Day 4

Today, our first visit is to beautiful Dartmouth, situated on the banks of the picturesque river Dart and renowned for its rich maritime heritage. The town's quaint streets are lined with boutique shops, galleries and excellent restaurants, perfect for picking up that unique Christmas gift. From here, we take a scenic drive along coastal roads, taking in views of Blackpool Sands, known as nature's golden beach, Slapton Sands, home to a Sherman WWII tank that memorialises a fatal US military exercise, and Kingsbridge enroute to our next stop in Totnes. Known for its historic market, this unique and charming town combines breathtakingly beautiful countryside with a fascinating history found in one of Britain's most picturesque waterways, all overlooked by a Norman castle.
