Day 1
After our morning departure, we travel to mainland Europe and our hotel in Valkenburg, The Netherlands.
DDay 2
Our first excursion is to the medieval city of Maastricht, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the country. Set on the banks of the river Meuse, why not visit the charming old city centre, home to a wealth of stylish shops and eateries, or explore the network of underground passageways and vaults found beneath the city? This afternoon, we return to Valkenburg. A trip to the fascinating Valkenburg Castle, which offers stunning hilltop panoramas and ancient ruins, comes highly recommended.
B, DDay 3
After breakfast, enjoy a free morning to explore charming Valkenburg, also home to a network of cobbled streets and underground Roman caves! An afternoon excursion will take us over the German border to visit the ancient spa city of Aachen, most famous for its traditional markets and magnificent cathedral, built over a century ago as the royal chapel of Emperor Charlemagne and one of the most famous monuments across the continent.
B, DDay 4
This morning, we travel through the scenic Eifel Mountains to the picture-postcard town of Monschau, characterised by its narrow streets and half-timbered buildings, overlooked by a medieval castle and linked by a series of bridges, the town's restaurants and shops lead to the town centre. After some free time to explore, we head to the unique Three Countries Point or 'Drielandenpunt'; known as the 'Crossroads of Europe', the borders of Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands meet here.
B, DDay 5
We travel home via a ferry across the English Channel.
